MCTEF directly and indirectly helps support after school tennis programs at various Montgomery County public schools by partnering with the Recreation Department. In 201, we expanded our tennis clubs 10 middle schools and one elementary school under the outstanding leadership of Sol Lopez and Sandra Butler. After school programs are the primary focus of the foundation.
Partnering with the 4 Star Tennis Academy at the University of Virginia, MCTEF supports a Summer Tennis Camp program. Each summer, a group of campers drawn from the after school programs are given a full scholarship to attend Tennis and Entrepreneur Camp. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for these deserving youth who participate in our tennis clubs.
Montgomery County Tennis Association (MCTA) and MCTEF continue to partner with the Special Olympics of Montgomery County, Maryland. To learn more about Special Olympics in Montgomery County, visit the Montgomery County Special Olympics website. We are continuously recruiting volunteers to train and participate with the Special Olympics athletes for the upcoming training sessions. If you wish to be part of this endeavor, please contact Haley Hughes at firstname.lastname@example.org.
MCTEF hosts an annual auction in connection with an exciting Kastles Team Tennis match. The silent auction features an array of exciting items, and complementary food and beverages. By purchasing a ticket to the auction, you also receive a seat for the Kastles match. This past year, our auction was visited by none other than Francis Tiafoe, a rising star on the ATP tour. Come cheer on the home team as well as support the foundation!
This past year, we welcomed Francis to our Kastles event. He has been described as a future American tennis star! Francis grew up playing at Junior Tennis Champions Center in nearby College Park, turned pro in 2015, and in 2017, captured Challenger singles titles in Sarasota and Aix en Provence.
